Prostate Cancer Diagnostics

Robotic Transperineal Prostatic Fusion Biopsy

Dr Tony Gianduzzo provides high-quality prostate cancer diagnostics supported by world-class prostate MRI, PSMA PET, and uropathology services, underpinned by more than 30 years of clinical experience.

Robotically targeted transperineal prostate biopsy offers a safe and highly accurate method of sampling the prostate. In the transperineal approach, biopsy needles pass through the skin between the scrotum and anus, significantly reducing the risk of infection compared with the traditional transrectal technique.

The Mona Lisa BioBot robotic-assisted biopsy system enables precise targeting of MRI-identified lesions, with accurate control of needle direction and depth. Biopsies are typically performed through two small transperineal puncture sites, minimising discomfort; most patients experience little to no pain afterwards.

This level of precision improves diagnostic accuracy and risk stratification, supporting more appropriate treatment decisions—identifying clinically significant disease while reducing overdiagnosis and overtreatment of low-risk cancer.
